NEMO highlights Greece’s commitment to the development of electromobility by coordinating a compelling panel about electrification and sustainability at the 8th Delphi Economic Forum.

Greece appears committed to supporting the development of electromobility providing strong incentives for the purchase of new vehicles and the deployment of the charging station networks, according to all participants in a discussion chaired by Gocar.gr general manager Michael Georgiadis.

Secretary General for Energy & Mineral Resources at Ministry for the Environment and Energy Alexandra Sdoukou, Secretary General of Transport at the Ministry of Infrastructure Ioannis Xifaras, HEDNO CEO Tasos Manos, Central Union of Municipalities of Greece President Dimitris Papasteriou, Volvo Car Hellas President and CEO Nikos Giannousas, Qualco Group President Miltos Georgantzis and ERTICO-ITS Europe CEO Joost Vantoome, outlined that the EV Global Outlook 2023 report of the International Energy Agency has commended Greece for the progress it has made in promoting electromobility.

They also stressed that regional authorities plan to install 8,900 charging stations across the country to further promote the adoption of electromobility-based solutions among citizens and businesses. Furthermore, the participants noted that sustainability in mobility can also be achieved through the introduction of intelligent management systems that help reduce traffic congestion. The technology is already there. What is still missing is cooperation between governments, local authorities and users to create an effective legal framework.
